The Potter’s House Denver will sell its property and continue with its worship services online only according to a recent announcement. The church is led by T.D. Jakes’ son-in-law and daughter, Toure and Sarah Jakes Roberts.
“COVID-19 forced every church in America to rethink how to best serve their parishioners and the broader community,” Toure told the Denver Post. “Due to the inability to gather and the economic instability of the pandemic, our church, like many other churches in the nation, experienced declining donations.”
The Denver campus was built in 1989 and has been a part of the church expansion since 2011. On average, their services would have 300,00 views on Youtube with just 10,000 in-person visitors.
Also, the building needed many repairs. “We decided that the best way forward would be to sell the property, continue our online offering that has proven a successful alternative, and maintain our hands-on community outreach operations.”
The Roberts also lead One A Potter’s House Church in Los Angeles, California. Toure started the church in 2004 and it has become a global movement with transformational teachings and local outreach.
The couple are also entrepreneurs and authors, having written several books including Purpose Awakening, Wholeness, Don’t Settle for Safe, and Women Evolve.
