Bishop T.D. Jakes, the lead pastor of the Potter’s House Church of Dallas, Texas has joined with other churches to raise aid for 25,000 families in Haiti through his organization United MegaCARE, the humanitarian arm of the church.
This year has been tremulous for the country. In July, Haiti’s president, Jovenel Moise was assassinated. Earlier this month, the country suffered a devastating earthquake and most recently it was hit by a tropical storm affecting millions.
United MegaCARE recently announced that they were partnering with Perfecting Faith Church of New York and Tabernacle of Glory in Miami, Fla. to provide relief to Haitians in need.
Jakes posted a video to raise awareness of the cause. “Won’t you partner with @UnitedMegaCare in our relief efforts to help our Haitian brothers and sisters in their time of need,” the caption reads.
In a statement, MegaCARE mentioned that the organization has a history of supporting Haiti during times of crisis and that its current work is a continuation of that.
“For this latest endeavor, our objective is to meet the immediate need following both the 7.2 magnitude earthquake earlier this month and Tropical Storm Grace,” the charity group stated. “Our financial contributions to our team members on the ground in Haiti is part of our Phase 1 relief efforts. Supplies like tents, PPE, non-perishable food and emergency supplies are all part of the kits being developed.”
MegaCARE also discussed the second phase it is establishing.
“Our Phase 2 relief efforts are currently in development following an additional on-site assessment of the people, their needs and future requirements. The timeline for Phase 2 relief efforts are not yet finalized.”
