Black Music Honors is an annual two-hour event that acknowledges the legendary African American artists who have influenced and made significant musical contributions to African American culture and American music worldwide. The show is produced by Central City Productions (CCP) and will be hosted by Emmy Award-winning talk show host, comedienne, and author Loni Love. The awards ceremony is in national broadcast syndication across the country and airs during Black Music Month.
Black Music Honors will also commemorate Juneteenth, an annual holiday that honors the end of slavery in the United States. In anticipation of the broadcast, the award show has been sharing interesting facts about Juneteenth as well as promoting the show.
On Tuesday, June 15, Congress voted 415-14 to make June 19, “Juneteenth” a national holiday. Coincidentally, Juneteenth will be commemorated at the award show.
“Yesterday it was announced that the Senate passed a bill to recognize #Juneteenth as a federal holiday. It heads to the House next. If it becomes law, it would be the 11th national holiday recognized annually by the federal government. You can recognize the holiday by watching BMH on @bouncetv at 1PM EST on Saturday. #blackmusichonors@blackmusichonors”
Singer Jaquees shared five words that he believes are the future of black music— powerful, mind-blowing, legendary, unifying, and magnetic.
Marvin Sapp also shared the news on his social media platform. “Make sure to mark your calendars for 6/19 1pm EST on @bouncetv as @ginuwine@ramseylewis @theangiestone and I are honored by @blackmusichonors.”
