Billboard hosted its annual Award Show in Los Angeles, California to honor artists who are excelling in their careers. This year Carrie Underwood won the “Top Christian Album” for her project, My Gift.
My Gift is a Christmas album with renditions of classic songs like, “Mary, Did You Know?,” “O Come All Ye Faithful,” and “Joyful, Joyful, We Adore Thee.” Underwood’s team posted the news to her Instagram page.
The singer admitted that it was different making the album during the Covid-19 pandemic.
“It was different this year because we were challenged with circumstances, so I’ve never made an album quite like this one before, [but] we persevered and created some stuff that I’m really proud of,” she shared.
Maverick City won “Top Gospel Album” for Maverick City Vol. 3 Part 1, which includes popular songs like “Have My Heart” and “Man of Your Word.” The group was ecstatic about receiving the award. They wrote, “Let’s go 🙌🏾🙌🏾 THANK YOU @billboard and all the Mav family for your support 💪🏽💪🏽.”
Kanye West received “Top Gospel Artist” and “Top Gospel Song” for “Wash Us In The Blood” (ft. Travis Scott). The rapper and producer became popular in the gospel industry when he created his gospel choir, Sunday Service Choir. In 2019 he released two albums, Jesus Is King and the Sunday Service Choir album.
“Graves Into Gardens” sung by Elevation Worship (ft. Brandon Lake) won the “Top Christian Song.” The group expressed their appreciation for their win.
“Thank you so much to everybody who has streamed, bought, and listened on the radio. We feel so blessed, so loved, and so honored. We love you,” they posted.
