Thousands of people around the world were baptized with the support of Pastor Michael Todd and the Transformation Church in an event called “Flood Sunday.”
The church originally announced the news May 2 on their Instagram page.
“FLOOD SUNDAY IS BACK AND BETTER THAN EVER!!!!! 😱 TC Nation, this is an opportunity you DON’T want to miss,” read the caption. “On Sunday, May 23rd, thousands of people across the world will be going public with their faith through water baptism! YOU can go public with your faith RIGHT WHERE YOU ARE! Register in the next 7 days and we’ll send you a baptism kit full of resources for the big day!”
Over 25,000 people around the world decided to take the next step in their faith and be baptized. Many people have been posting on Instagram about the transformative experience.
One follower praised God for the opportunity. ‘Yesterday, I was blessed to have been Baptized with my boyfriend, close friends, and also with 20,000 more people around the world. I’ve been wanting to do this for a while and I finally did it! Thank you God 🙏🏾,” she wrote.
For another girl, she felt excited to honor God with such a sacred moment because her first baptism happened when she was young.
“Today was a good day! I’ve been a Christian since I was a little girl and recall being baptized rather early,” she wrote on Instagram. “The issue is, I truly don’t remember much about it. I’m sure I wasn’t ignorant to what I was doing, but I couldn’t even tell you how old I was. Over the last decade and a half, my relationship with Jesus has definitely become the defining part of my life as I’m sure most know.”
“Flood Sunday” even inspired people to reshare their baptism experience. Executive Pastor of Transformation Church, Charles Metcalf, posted a video of his baptism from January 4, 1999.
“Baptism is such an incredibly special moment! I’m so glad my family has this video of me with my PAPAW VAN! This was in my childhood church Abundant Life Christain Church! This wasn’t in front of the world but this moment and this church changed the trajectory of my life.” he said.
Todd also joined in the excitement.
“I’m so overwhelmed by what so sovereignly took place —all over the world today… We started #FloodSunday 4 years ago with 40 people signed up to be baptized at church and today over 26K of you identified with Christ’s death and resurrection through water Baptism in jacuzzi pools, bathtubs, neighborhood recreation centers, lakes, oceans, kiddie pools, ponds, hotel pools —-where ever there was “SOME WATER!!! 🙌🏾 you were raised to life! 🌊This Could Only Be God! #TCOBG The church is ALIVE and we just getting started!”
