  1. Derek Chauvin Receives Guilty Verdict for Murder of George Floyd
    On Tuesday, April 20, Derek Chauvin was convicted of second-degree murder, third-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter for the murder of George Floyd. Although this verdict does not compensate for the loss of Floyd’s life, we pray that his family was finally able to feel a semblance of justice.

 

2. Ma’Khia Bryant Fatally Shot by Ohio Police

Shortly before the announcement of Derek Chauvin’s guilty verdict, a video began circulating on the internet of yet another victim of a police killing. On April 20, 16-year-old Ma’Khia Bryant was fatally shot by an Ohio police officer.

 

3. DMX Memorial Set for Saturday

Close family and friends will gather for a memorial for the late rapper, DMX, which will take place Saturday, April 24. Fans will be able to watch the memorial live at 4 pm EST on DMX’s Youtube channel. BET network will host a memorial service live at 2:30 pm EST on Sunday, April 25.

 

 

4. Sarah Jakes Roberts on The Breakfast Club

5. Actress Kimberly Elise Celebrate Birthday with Baptism

Actress Kimberly Elise recently celebrated her 54th birthday by rededicating her life to Jesus Christ. On Instagram, she details her experience of getting baptized as a teen and not truly understanding its magnitude. “Though I was first baptized when I was 16 years old and it was beautiful and powerful as the Holy Spirit filled me, there is something extraordinarily profound to so consciously give one’s life to the Lord at my age,” she wrote in an Instagram caption accompanying the photos from her baptism.
