Bishop T.D. Jakes is known for many things. He is the pastor of the Potter’s House of Dallas, a successful producer known for films like Woman Thou Art Loosed and Jumping The Broom, and the CEO of TDJ Enterprises.
Therefore, it is no surprise that the bestselling author will release a new book on April 20, titled Don’t Drop The Mic: The Power of Your Words Can Change The World.
Jakes believes that the next generation will be called to lead the Gospel. “There are enough who are sincerely after God to carry it forward,” he shared in an interview. “It is our [current faith leaders’] responsibility to make it easier for you by leaving clues.” His new book outlines some of those clues.
The powerhouse preacher also states that it is important for people in positions of influence to be inspirational for new faith leaders because “we can’t keep waiting on superheroes. We are the heroes.”
Preaching is “unique,” he said, and “nobody can do it like those whose heart is open to it.” He noted that although “the generations are changing, the message must remain the same.”
Jakes wants people to know that communication is important because “if nobody speaks, nothing changes.” He encourages those to know that “whatever business or life you’re in, don’t drop the mic. Don’t let the pain of life and the astonishment of your own humanity leave you muted.”
