Gospel recording artist Rudy Currence has been nominated for a Stellar Award for his single “I Belong Here.” Each year the Stellar Awards honor gospel artists, writers, and industry professionals.

Currence revealed that “I Belong Here” was inspired “as a personal reminder that as an artist I’m making a difference in this world and what I’m doing has value.”

Last year when the world was upended by the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, many people felt discouraged. “The song took on new meaning and the entire world needed that same reminder that no matter what you’re going through, you’re not alone. God is with you,” Currence shared.

In February “I Belong Here” reached #1 on the Billboard Gospel Charts. According to Billboard, “the song, which Currence solely wrote and produced, holds at its No. 10 high on the Hot Gospel Songs chart, powered by 2.1 million radio audience impressions in the week ending Feb. 4.’’

Currence is grateful for the recognition. “To the Stellar Awards, thank you so much for the love and consideration” he posted.

Many people have been supporting the Currence and the track. Recording artist Keyondra Lockett commented, “You’re so professional Rudy!!! You deserve this and more!!!”

Another follower said, “When I think of the goodness of Jesus, and ALLLL…hey!! (Quickens and runs up the driveway) Congratulations Rudy!!
